JUNE 14, 15, 16, & 17, 2007
Where?
Lawton,
(FORT
SILL)
OKLAHOMA.
Hi Everybody
Well, summer is over and now we're less then a
year away from our first reunion. Please take some time and let us know if you
plan to attend.
The Holiday season is a great time to look up
some of your old Buddy's from "Once upon a time and far, far away". Go to our
web site.
http://www.7th8th-arty.com
We have over 1900 names on the member’s roster
on the web page. We could use some help locating these guys.
SP5 Ruben (CHICO) Gutierrez has volunteered to
be Point man for the first reunion of the 7/8th Artillery
Association. Everything is starting to come together. We now have a definite
date. It will be on June 14, 2007.
The 3rd Friday of the month (15th) will be a FIRE POWER DEMONSTRATION FRIDAY.
The following is a tentative schedule and is
not "locked in stone".
June 14, 1200 hrs until 2000 hrs - Registration
June 15, TBA* - Fire Power Demo. - CG Briefing
June 16, TBA*- A.M. - Post tours - Afternoon -
members meeting - Evening - Reunion Dinner for all in attendance (includes
family members).
June 17, TBA*- A.M. - Memorials - Check out.
* (To Be Announced = TBA)
If possible we will have a room set aside for
"old times they’re are not forgotten". Will need someone to staff this.
Since this is our first attempt at a reunion,
we don't expect it to come off without a hitch or three. First one to
complain gets to do the next one!
We are expecting the members living in the
Lawton area to step up and give us a helping hand with the schedule and tours.
We will not have a good handle on times until
about four (4) months out. As soon as we have the info we will publish it on the
web page and by email. For those without email, an effort will be made to
contact them by "snail mail".
Chico will need your support contact him at
Chico34tango@aol.com or your can get him on his cell phone at (210) 215-7606
George Bradley
(automatic8@hotmail.com)
will be heading up the attendance committee. We need a show of hands. If you
think you even might be able to attend, please let George know now, so we can
get in idea of how many people we will have. You can call him anytime at
325-646-5066 or write to him at: George Bradley,
2200 1st Street, Brownwood, TX
76801.
The more we can get the better the reunion will
be. There is power in numbers and the prices for accommodations, transportation,
and meals will vary by the size of the group.
Please take the time to contact fellow members; this would help if you would
like to have rooms next to those you served with.
If you would like to contact someone that
served in the Battalion and that individual is not listed in the members list,
please contact George Bradley at email
automatic8@hotmail.com. If the
member you are seeking is in the master data base, then your request for contact
will be sent to that member. You will be contacted when the request is sent or
notified that no info is available for the member.
Make sure that your correct name and
any info you want forwarded is sent to George.
Thanks and see you at the reunion. Gary D.
